Litza Bixler - director / writer / choreographer

A true child of the desert, the original dust baby, Litza Bixler is one of London's most sought-after choreographers and a rising star as a director. She has earned a reputation as an artist on the cutting edge who creates work that is unusual, often ironic and always distinctive in style.

Drawn to the collaborative nature of film, Litza has been working in the industry for the past ten years. She choreographed ‘the funniest scene of the year’ (Total Film) for ‘Shaun of the Dead’, taught Jude and Sienna how to dance for 'Alfie', put Rhys Ifans through his paces for the upcoming Richard Curtis film ‘The Boat that Rocked’ and taught Colin Firth and Jessica Biel to tango in the upcoming ‘Easy Virtue’. She has choreographed everything from tap dancing zebras (Orangina)and twitching faces (Wrigley’s Gum), to bodies twisting like pretzels (Levis), peep show strips (Napster) and dancing puppets (Britvic). She has also worked on many other innovative and award winning commercials and promos such as: Vodaphone, Intel, Pepsico, Coca Cola, Samsung, Clarks, Avalanches (MTV video of the year), Moloko, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Jamelia, Razorlight, and Muse.

Litza was born in Denver, Colorado, USA. Having spent her childhood sketching, sculpting and painting, she studied the plastic arts at the University of Colorado, specialising in photography and costume design. She went on to complete a BFA in performance studies, emphasising acting, dance and directing. Litza moved to the UK in 1993, and received a masters (with Distinction) in Choreography in 1995.

Over the years, Litza has directed her own films and theatre pieces, including the recent Dust Baby project 'Watching Copelia'. With her skills as an artist and keen choreographic eye, she brings a sense of visual spectacle, rhythm and timing to bear on her work. Equally intrigued by the complexities of the human psyche, she draws on her training in NLP and cognitive therapy when working with actors and developing characters.
